Our Kune Kune Pigs have Arrived!

Whew! We're finally starting to get some of our captured video posted again! Here's the video of us getting ready for our pastured pigs (Kune Kune/American Guinea cross), and their much anticipated arrival. We've got these guys moving on pasture now and they are loving the alfalfa! They move every day with ease and seemed to be well trained with the electric fence. They are a docile breed and easy to handle once they got comfortable with us and figured out we weren't going to chase them anymore!

I am always amazed at how they know their "people". They initially act wary when there are visitors around, but are their fun piggy selves when things are back to normal. Most of them love a good scratch on the belly, and we love just watching them do their thing!

This breed also doesn't root much at all, leaving our pastures in great shape. In fact, the pastures they initially grazed are ready to hit again, although we won't be back on them for a week or two. They get most of their sustenance from the pasture - we only feed 16 pigs about 1 1/4 cups of grain each a day! Wow!

We hope you enjoy the video as much as we enjoy the pigs! Stop in and see us sometime!
