We raise American Aberdeen cattle (or Lowline Angus), named from their place of origin in Scotland.  This breed was perfected in Australia, where Black Angus cattle were selectively bred to perfect physical structure and feed efficiency.  Extremely efficient converting grass into mass, Aberdeens are smaller, easy to handle and very docile.  They are bred for their exquisite flavor and marbling when finished on grass.  Our pastured beef are rotationally grazed on fields of natural grasses, alfalfa, and forbs of many kinds, ensuring optimum nutritional profiles in the meat.  During the cold season our cattle enjoy those same plants in the form of hay grown here at Black Horse Ranch.
